Clifton High School is delighted to announce a new and close association with Bristol Museums as a major sponsor for some important upcoming events. The first, ‘Pliosaurus! Face to Face with the Jurassic Beast’ is Bristol Museum & Art Gallery’s major new exhibition about prehistoric marine reptiles known as ‘Sea Monsters’. The pliosaur specimen on display was discovered in Wiltshire in 1994 and is the world’s only known example of this new species – it will be on public display at the Museum for the first time this summer. This ‘pay what you think’ exhibition will run for seven months from 17th June 2017 to 7th January 2018, and it is anticipated it will attract some 70,000 visitors.
Secondly, Clifton High will also be the sponsor for the Annual Education Programme for all Bristol Museums (Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, MShed, Blaise Castle House Museum, The Georgian House Museum and The Red Lodge Museum). Bristol Museums offer an Education Programme which is now one of the largest in the South West, providing workshop experiences at all its museums to pupils across the city from Early Years Foundation Stage through to Year 13. In particular the programme also seeks to raise engagement levels in areas of social deprivation. In addition to sponsoring this programme we hope that the Museum will make some use of our ‘Masterclasses’ bus to take exhibits to pupils who might otherwise not be able to see them.
Clifton High is delighted to be supporting the educational and exhibition programmes at Bristol Museums; we look forward to a rewarding partnership. For further information, visit www.bristolmuseums.org.uk/pliosaurus and www.bristolmuseums.org.uk/learning
