In its second century of educating young people, Clifton High School continues to reflect the spirit of its founders and supporters. They were men and women of vision who sought to provide the very best for their pupils.
Sound learning was, and still is, at the heart of the school's ethos. Our focus is on providing an environment where children can grow and develop into happy and confident individuals, and where talents are recognised and nurtured. We aim to develop well-educated, principled and successful young people who strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.
We firmly believe that a co-educational environment provides a more balanced educational experience for our pupils. The school has undergone a period of change over recent years and is now fully co-educational throughout. Clifton High is the only co-educational school in Bristol to teach boys and girls in Years 7-9 separately in core subjects and in mixed gender groups for all other subjects and all other year groups. We believe that this model of education, the Diamond Edge model, gives Clifton High School pupils the best of both worlds, both socially and academically.
Change is a constant in a vibrant community. We must continually reflect, move forward and embrace challenge. We encourage all our pupils to believe in themselves and embrace those challenges. It is our belief that with the privilege of an excellent education comes responsibility, and our pupils are encouraged to respect those less fortunate than themselves and to strive to make a difference. Their generosity and service both within the school and the wider community continue long after they have left us.
