Pastoral care

24th May 2013
A Caring Community

Underpinning all we do at Clifton High School is the care with which we guide and support the children.

Each Nursery and Reception class has a qualified teacher and a qualified Nursery Nurse. Class sizes are small to allow teachers and nursery nurses to know the children well and devote more time to each individual child.

It is crucial to a child's well-being and development that they are happy and feel safe, secure and supported. The teachers and nursery nurses ensure that each child feels a valued member of the group so that a strong self-image and self-esteem are promoted.

Children's achievements are celebrated and their progress is closely monitored so that any need for special provision is quickly identified. Our learning support department provides a second line of support for the children.

Teachers and nursery nurses work closely with parents in an atmosphere of mutual respect providing each child with security, confidence and high quality care.

We are justly proud of our pastoral care, recognised as being "outstanding" in our most recent inspection report.

The Foundation Stage was inspected by Ofsted in 2008 and was adjudged to be "Outstanding" in every area - an accolade achieved by only 2-3% of settings nationally.
