The Learning Environment The Foundation Stage Curriculum focuses upon six main areas of learning and development:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
Each of the areas is delivered through planned, purposeful play, with a balance of adult led and child initiated activities inside and outside the classroom. The curriculum is enhanced by frequent trips outside school, visits by guests with specialist skills, the support of parents and children participating in decision-making.

The Foundation Stage was inspected by Ofsted in 2008 and was adjudged to be "Outstanding" in every area - an accolade achieved by only 2-3% of settings nationally.
