PSHCE is integrated into all aspects of school life and aims to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active and responsible citizens.
In Years 1 and 2 PSHCE provides opportunities for pupils to learn about themselves as developing individuals and as members of their communities, building on their own experiences and on the Personal, Social and Emotional Development curriculum followed in Foundation Stage.
Children learn about their own attributes and those of others, target-setting, right and wrong, codes of conduct and contributing to the life of their school, their family and the local and global communities. They recognise how their behaviour affects others, investigate teasing and bullying and discuss topical issues.
