Design technology

24th May 2013

Design Technology is highly relevant to everyday life in Key Stage 1. It is about exploring, the excitement of creating and the satisfaction of achieving.

Teachers nurture each child's creativity as they embrace the challenge of designing and making. Knowledge, skills and understanding are developed in class, group and individual activities and opportunities to explore working with resistant materials, food and textiles are provided.

Topics include: Fruit and Vegetables, Homes, Toys, Moving Pictures, Puppets and Winding Up. Resources and artefacts are plentiful and visits to the estate agents, Clifton Village and St Fagan's Museum of Welsh Life bring Design Technology to life, allowing the children to investigate street furniture, house design and artefacts from the past.
