Extra-curricular

20th May 2013
Beyond the Classroom

Our varied and exciting extra-curricular programme enhances the children's experiences, adding much to the richness of life at Clifton High. Children embrace the opportunity to try out new activities in a relaxed, purposeful atmosphere where the emphasis is on having fun.

Lunchtime and after-school activities provide opportunities for sporting, academic, creative and spiritual development and include:

Orchestra, Wind Band, Junior Choir, Chamber Choir, Music Technology, Steel Band, Recorders, Ballet,  Speech and Drama, French, Art and Craft, Taekwando, Trampoline, Football, Netball, Cricket, Hockey, Rugby, Tennis, Rounders, Swimming, "Check It Out" (Christian Club), Environment and ICT.

The activities are run by teachers and highly qualified coaches.

Regular visits to the local area and further afield take place in all year groups throughout the year and further enhance the curriculum.

Each year group has an extended overnight trip to an activity camp, in the United Kingdom or overseas, offering opportunities to enjoy canoeing, climbing, abseiling, archery, skiing, quad-biking, body-boarding, fencing, orienteering and similar adventurous activities. Years 4-6 also have the opportunity to go on our biennial ski trip.

Raising money for charity generates much enthusiasm and creativity; the children enjoy the opportunity to organise events for local and international charities and last year raised over £5,000.
