PSHCE is integrated into all aspects of school life and aims to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active and responsible citizens.
In Years 3-6, children learn about themselves, setting targets, meeting challenges, shouldering responsibility, making a contribution to society, helping those less fortunate, debating issues, resolving differences and assessing risks. They investigate the range of jobs carried out by people, the role of the media, rules, health and safety, relationships, racism, bullying and support groups. Understanding is developed through research, analysis, discussion and debate, preparing the children to embrace opportunities and face challenges confidently and caringly.
