Geography

19th May 2013
Through our Geography syllabus we aim to instil in the children a love of investigation and an appreciation of their immediate locality and the wonderful world in which we live.

Geography in KS2 has links with other subjects, such as PSHCE, ICT, History and Maths. Children develop skills learnt in KS1. At KS2, children learn more about their local area by looking at the physical aspects, the needs of a community and the amenities and services necessary for a community to function well. They study weather conditions around the world and the link between this and tourism. Children extend their mapping and atlas skills.

Rivers and Mountains are studied by looking at their physical features and evolution and the environmental impact of human activity is investigated.  Children study a locality abroad and are encouraged to empathise with peoples from other lands and cultures.
