An appreciation of a well-balanced diet is important for young people. In 2013 our Executive Chef, Mr Tim Fletcher, was appointed and he brings a fresh approach to our Catering Department. Mr Fletcher has had a varied catering career working with the 2 Michelin starred Simon Rogan, in school kitchens and as a research and development chef. He oversees school lunches and event catering.
Our school lunches are freshly prepared on the premises by our catering team and are taken in the school Dining Hall. Menus reflect seasonality and we use ingredients sourced from local producers and growers. Mr Fletcher’s vision for school catering is that it is about much more than simply providing fuel. He aims for the dining hall to be an extension of the classroom and for mealtimes to introduce children to new flavours and to educate them about food provenance, healthy eating and good nutrition.
All children from Nursery School to Year 11 are expected to take school lunch and we can cater for special dietary requirements, allergies and food intolerances. Every day a good variety is on offer and in addition to the daily main courses alternative options of jacket potatoes, pasta, soup and a salad bar are available. For dessert, we offer a traditional pudding such as crumble, fruit pie or cake as well as fruit salad and yoghurts.
In addition to school lunches we know that children often need a little more to sustain them through the school day. Younger pupils are asked to bring in a healthy mid-morning snack and a drink. Senior pupils also have the option to purchase snacks at break time. In addition, clearly labelled water fountains are conveniently located across the school site.
