Facilities

Clifton High School is located on a large leafy site in the heart of Clifton, a short walk from Brunel’s historic Clifton Suspension Bridge. From our Nursery School to Sixth Form, children are taught in bright, airy classrooms located in our beautiful Victorian buildings. At the heart of our school is our lawn, surrounded by mature trees and shrubs. For over 140 years this area has been a symbol of the vitality and growth of our school and the boys and girls who have been educated and nurtured alongside it.

The environment and the outdoors are very important to us at Clifton High. We are a recognised Eco school with a Green Flag award. As well as our beautiful lawn, we have our own outdoor class room, wildlife garden, Forest School, wildflower meadow and raised beds for vegetables; we keep our own bees and produce Clifton High School honey.

Children in Nursery School to Year 4 are taught in their own buildings with younger children benefiting from dedicated and secure outdoor play areas with age-appropriate equipment. Year 5 and 6 classrooms are located in the Main School Building nearer the Senior School classrooms and facilities. Year 3-6 pupils have their own science laboratory.

The sites facilities provide excellent learning enviroments with; three libraries, seven science laboratories, three IT suites and a modern languages laboratory. We have a dedicated music block with teaching and practice rooms and a Mac equipped music technology suite. We have a design and innovation department with its own workshops, a classic car and the latest 3- D printers and laser cutting equipment. The Art Department is home to senior and junior art studios, a kiln room, ceramics studio, photographic studio and dark room. Our 170 seat Rose Theatre is a fully equipped theatre and performance space with retractable seating and parqueted flooring that supports a dance studio, an on-site cinema, a discotheque, musical and drama performances. In the Sixth Form students have access to their own common room and dedicated café. Wi-Fi is available throughout all classrooms used by the senior school and in public areas of the main building.

Our provision for sport at Clifton High is exceptional. On site in Clifton we have a floodlit multi-use games area (MUGA), indoor 25m heated swimming pool and gymnasium. A new Health and Wellbeing Suite is under construction and will be ready by January 2019. Sport also takes place at our Coombe Dingle Sports Complex which we own in partnership with the University of Bristol. Here pupils can enjoy first class sporting facilities including indoor and outdoor tennis courts, netball courts, grass and artificial pitches. The first XI's and XV’s play matches under floodlights wherever practical to do so. During the summer of 2016, the facility was extensively improved with the installation of a 4G all weather pitch, new changing rooms and a refurbished pavilion.
