Well done to Florence in the Sixth Form who has been working tirelessly to try and raise £10,000 to build a new house for her sister-in-law’s family in the Philippines who lost everything they owned to Typhoon Haiyan from their home in the eye of the storm in November. Florence secured excellent coverage in the Bristol Post and in the Bristol Observer this month about her efforts and is successfully raising awareness as well as funds.
Supporting charities and helping others is a core part of our ethos at Clifton High and we were all pleased to help Florence kick-start her fundraising in school before Christmas. Hopefully the monies raised at school will help to pay for new foundations and an engineer to get the house build underway.
Florence is now organising a very special concert in Henleaze on 18th May to boost her fund further. As we know, Florence, who has been singing since she was 12 and has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Colston Hall and many other venues and events across the country, is an incredible opera singer with a very bright future; she will be performing in May alongside superb concert pianist Anthony Peebles who is generously donating his time and this will be a musical event not to be missed.
