We are delighted that Mrs Claire Tynte-Irvine, former Head Girl from 1998-99, will be joining us to give this year’s Rose Day address at Bristol Cathedral. We also look forward to welcoming former pupil and professional athlete, Miss Lucy Bryan, who will be presenting the sports awards to pupils this year.
Claire is a career diplomat, currently working as the Head of International Division for the Scottish Government. With extensive experience of emerging economies and EU affairs, Claire has completed many overseas postings, with specific responsibility for economic cooperation over the course of her distinguished career.
Claire has also supported the Foreign Secretary as his Private Secretary covering Europe, Asia and global economic affairs. She was also the UK Representative, for the European Diplomatic Programme from 2005-2006. Claire studied Classics at Balliol College, Oxford and has a Master’s Degree in Finance from the University of London.
Lucy attended Clifton High School from 2006-2013, and has since gone on to train as a professional athlete, specialising in pole vaulting. Lucy recently competed in Australia at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, achieving 7th place with a jump of 4.3 metres!
Upon leaving Clifton High School, Lucy trained and worked during a year out before completing additional study to enable her to fulfil her goal of attending university in the United States. Lucy is now enjoying studying for a Major in Sports Management and a Minor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Akron, Ohio.
We very much look forward to welcoming both Claire and Lucy on Saturday 23rd June, to celebrate our annual Service of Thanksgiving, Commemoration and Prizegiving.
