Futures and Skills Evening a great success

Clifton High School held another successful Futures and Skills evening for pupils in Years 9-13. As part of the wider Futures and Skills Programme, the School aims to ensure that pupils are well informed before making important decisions about A level and University choices. Ellie in Year 12 has written about her experience of the evening:

Pupils in Years 9-13 enjoyed talks from a number of speakers representing a variety of different careers such as law, accounting, marketing and medicine. Sixth Form students also received a talk from Mrs Giles about the UCAS application process, which I found particularly helpful. It was reassuring to know that we will have so much support from Clifton High School whilst we apply to university.

I chose to attend the Accounting, Finance and Law presentations and found advice on the different routes into these careers, including graduate and apprenticeship schemes, to be very useful. The speakers were very approachable and were happy to give additional ‘one to one advice’ on the type of work experience I should try and secure, as well as the attributes employers look for on a CV beyond academic grades. Overall, the evening proved really helpful and we all came away excited about the multitude of possibilities ahead of us.’
