'Inspiring' Early Years Provision at Clifton High School

“The environment really does support children’s Characteristics of Effective Learning and the adults supporting children were sensitive and knowledgeable in fostering great attitudes to learning and clearly know the children very well.” - Bristol City Council Inspection 2018

Our Nursery to Year 2 Department is a key part of the school’s 3-18 co-educational community. Situated in large and light classrooms within handsome Victorian buildings on the edge of Clifton Village, the EYFS Department also makes use of its own wildlife pond, mud kitchen, fire pit and outdoor classroom as part of its onsite Forest School provision.

Clifton High School encourages the children to make the most of the outdoor teaching space, nurturing in each child not only an appreciation for the environment but also providing the opportunity for imagination, key social interactions and responsibility.

Clifton High is well known for its strong sense of community and family ethos. Dedicated, inspiring and committed Early Years staff support the learning and personal development of each child alongside parents. Importantly, children in Nursery to Year 2 also benefit from specialist teaching and subject-specific teachers from throughout the School at the start of their learning journey.

“There are so many fantastic opportunities for children to develop independence, investigative skills, exploration and challenge.” - Bristol City Council Inspection 2018

In recent weeks, our Early Years Department has started to welcome its newest members with a series of enjoyable and interactive induction sessions, the next of which will take place on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 27th June.
