Junior Chess Club got off to a flying start last week with six young chess masters playing on three of the eight chess sets. Some mini games were completed first including a strategy game playing only with pawns and the winner being the first person to get a pawn to the opposite edge, a time limited game with pawns and knights and the winner being the one who takes the most pieces in five minutes and a race game with knights and rooks to see who can take a piece first. Then full games were started with two calls for CHECK happening before the end of the session. The games were preserved in a secret cupboard until next week.
Many thanks to Mrs Bagnall and 5B for sorting all the chess pieces into complete sets!
