Congratulations to the eight finalists who impressed with their performance in the last round of the Junior Spelling Bee. All children in Years 3-6 took part in the initial rounds, learning a set of words to spell, after which a winner from each class was selected. Due to so many of the children achieving full marks in this initial task, class teachers then had to select more challenging words the children had not previously learnt, until there was one winner. All children in Years 3-6 should be congratulated for their hard work learning spellings so superbly throughout the year. Mrs Tabb, together with Mr Cleaver and his salmon pink jacket, hosted the final! The pool of words from which the participants were tested consisted of those learnt in round one, alongside more difficult words that the children had not yet practised. All of the finalists worked diligently, managing to memorise and recite some very demanding words under the pressure of the lights and audience. A well-deserved congratulations to overall champions Theo and Anango in Year 4, and runners up, Alexander, Sam, Danil, Orson, Aneline and Callum. Thank you to Mrs Tabb who organised this rewarding event and co-ordinates the spelling tests throughout the year.
