On Monday and Tuesday afternoons, the annual senior and junior house galas took place, with both events highlighting the excellent swimming talents of Clifton High pupils. Through the combined hard work of all pupils during swimming lessons and the unique partnership with Henleaze Performance Swimming Club that allows pupils access to the Club's outstanding coaches, there were a number of records broken throughout the events.
In the senior gala, five new records were set by Oliver in Year 10, Martin in Year 9, Aaron in Year 8, Charlie in Year 9 and Lucy in Year 8. Lucy’s record was particularly impressive as the record had not been broken since 1984!
In the junior gala, the younger record breakers were India in Year 4, Susanna in Year 5, Zach in Year 5, Oscar in Year 5, Louis in Year 6, Max in Year 6 and Leni in Year 5 who broke not one, but two records in her individual events.
After some much-contested races, Percival managed to conquer the leader board, coming first place at both the junior and senior gala!
Both Clifton High swimming galas have also contributed to the Swimarathon taking place this week in aid of Sports Relief. Clifton High pupils and staff are attempting to swim a distance of 100Km, 4000 lengths in total! The house galas alone contributed 17Km distance. Well done to all participants!
