The Parents' Association would like to extend their thanks to everyone
who was involved in making the 2013 Christmas Fair a success. We raised
£1901.73 gross profit during the course of the event, as well as
£352.75 from Christmas tree sales, which will be fed back into the school. We
could not have organised the event without help from parents, staff and
children. Special thanks must go to Mr Richards and his team of Elves in the
Grotto and to Mr and Mrs Doubleday for creating such a beautiful Grotto area in
the Beech Room; to Mr Cleaver and the Junior Choir and to Mrs Owen, Mrs
Sutcliffe and Mrs Clements for the lovely crafts provided. The refreshments were
super on the day and we must also extend our thanks to the catering
department.
Quiz Night Update
It was great to see so many parents and teachers at the PA
Quiz Night on Friday 14th March 2014. It was a huge success! The
evening started with drinks at the bar before Mr Taylor kicked off with his
fantastic quiz questions, which got the grey matter working. After a few rounds
of questions we were in need of sustenance and supper was served - a fantastic
array of dishes, which included beef madras and stifado, courtesy of Mr Tim
Fletcher, the new Executive Chef.
Once everyone had recharged their batteries the fight for
first place was on again. It was all extremely close, but Mrs Owen and Mrs
Mitchell’s Team took first place with 155 points. Their prize, other than the
prestige of being this year’s winning team, was Marks and Spencer vouchers. The
runners up were “The Karaoke Kids” with 153 points and in third place was
“Subtle Sam”, with 152 points.
The evening raised over £1000 for the school and a big thank you must go out
to the organisers Jane Doubleday and Asha Goyal as well as Mr Taylor for the
quiz and Mr Fletcher for the food. We must also thank Mr Doubleday and Mandy
Wedgwood for running the bar and Liz Bond for helping serve the food. As always
the maintenance team were on hand to set up the tables for us, their help with
events is much appreciated.
Forthcoming Events
R-Y6 Disco - 2nd April 2014: This year the Nursery children will also
be given a little taster of the ever popular school disco.
Call for committee members
There are currently exciting vacancies for a Treasurer and a Class Reps
Liaison on the PA Committee. These are vital roles that play an integral part of
how the PA operates. We are also able to welcome more general committee members
at this time so that we can continue to provide excellent events for the
enjoyment of parent's, children and staff and raise valuable funds for the
school. Please contact Jo Cheeseman on CHSPA@live.co.uk if you are
interested in becoming involved.
