This term our Year 12 and 13 Performing Arts students and Year 11 Drama pupils have enjoyed talks from experts in the industry to enhance their learning in a practical way. Knowing how the subject that they enjoy so much in the classroom translates into different career options is extremely important when the boys and girls go on to make decisions about their future subject choices and career paths.
ITV's Lisa Hamilton-James visited School to talk to the Sixth Form students about working backstage and in theatre administration roles. The talk was very enlightening, and she will be returning to School soon to talk to the students again. This time the topic with be the valuable subject of 'How to act for camera'.
Cameron Moore, a professional actor who currently plays the part of 'Cameron Campbell' in the Hollyoaks soap opera, also came in to talk to Years 11-13. He gave the pupils tips on how to audition well and talked about the differences between acting for theatre and for film, for example the ability to switch between time frames is required when acting for film. He also gave them advice about how he pursued a career in acting.
