On Saturday 25th June, Clifton High School community came together at Bristol Cathedral to celebrate in its annual Service of Thanksgiving, Commemoration and Prize-Giving.
This service marked the retirement of Mr Hugh Stebbing as President of the School’s Council of Governors and we were pleased to welcome Dr Richard Gliddon, Patron, who gave an address to mark the event. It was a wonderful occasion with children and young people from across the School participating in the service.
Mrs Katie Bickerstaffe, Chief Executive of Dixons Carphone UK and Ireland, presented prizes to the children and young people and gave a brief insight into the qualities required to be successful.
This occasion was also a time to say farewell to staff and to our Sixth Form students as they embark upon their life beyond school. Many of these students have been with us since the Nursery School and as such they and their parents have had a long association with Clifton High School.
Following the School’s splendid Inspection Report in February 2016 pupils and staff spent a day out at Longleat. It was therefore particularly special to welcome Mr Bob Montgommery, CEO of Longleat, to the service.
In the evening, Sixth Form, their parents and other members of the School community changed their attire to formal evening dress and enjoyed a Starry Night Ball; this was hugely successful and thoroughly enjoyed by all participants.
