Swimming Success for Clifton High

A number of pupils at Clifton High have been victorious in various swimming pursuits and competitions of late.

As a School we recently entered multiple teams, with great success, into an English Schools Swimming Association relay competition.  Millie in Year 7, Olivia, Tilly and Elizabeth in Year 8, Lucy in Year 9, Millie in Year 11, Kate in Year 12 and Izzy in Year 13 all qualified for the finals event, which takes place at the National Aquatics Centre in London later this month. Many congratulations to them all; we wish them the very best of luck in London.

Outside of School, one of our youngest swimmers, Elijah in Year 3, swam in his first club championships for Bristol Henleaze Swimming Club. Despite being one of the youngest competitors at the event, he won Gold for his 25m freestyle swim. Louis in Year 7 also swam at the event; he achieved personal bests in the 50m freestyle and in the 50m breast stroke, with a time within regional considerations.  Congratulations to them both on their successes.

Two pupils saw further aquatic achievements at The Bristol Open Meet. Sadie in Year 5 recorded new personal bests in the 50m and 100m back stroke races, earning a Bronze medal; and also in the 50m breast stroke, where she gained qualification to County level for her recorded time.  Leni in Year 6 achieved both a Bronze and Gold medal with her times. She is now ranked in the top three in the County for her age group in 50m freestyle and all backstroke events, and in the top ten in the South West for her 200m back stroke recorded time.  Very well done indeed.
