Treasuring Hunting to Support the Amazon

The Senior Eco-committee, together with Mrs Giles and Mr Walmsley, has raised over £100 to support the Sky/WWF Amazon Rainforest Appeal. Mr Walmsley kicked off the fundraising with an inspiring talk about life in the Amazon Rainforest in a special assembly. The money raised will be enough to sponsor an acre of rainforest and to adopt a jaguar and an orangutan through the WWF.  The Eco-committee pupils designed and ran a very successful and exciting treasure hunt around the school site. Pupils had to hunt for letters, which they then unscrambled to form a phrase. The winners of the treasure hunt were Harry, Annabel and Alicia  all from Year 7 - well done!

The Eco-committee was tasked to look further afield than our previous challenges to help a cause in another country that interested them. Together with our in-school recycling programme and our on-going commitment to all eco-issues, this project will go towards our application for a ‘Eco-Schools Silver Award’.

In the coming weeks the group are producing a short film to show how much CHS does in terms of eco-issues, and we hope to be able to make this available for everyone to see.
