Visiting the German Christmas Markets

Thirty-five very excited Year 7, 8 and 10 pupils spent four days in Germany during the Christmas holidays visiting the Cologne Christmas markets and the Lindt factory.

They stayed in a lovely hotel only fifteen minutes’ walk from the centre of Cologne and had a fantastic time, sampling German foods and ‘Kinderpunsch’ and using their German skills to buy Christmas presents.

The group visited the Lego shop, climbed to the top of the Cathedral tower (around 500 steps!), enjoyed five Christmas markets and visited the Lindt factory, where they became master chocolatiers, making their own Lindt chocolate bars in a fantastic workshop. On the second evening they went to the Engelmarkt, a beautiful angel-themed market close to our hotel and on the third evening, they all shared their talents in their very own show: ‘Deutschland hat Talent!’ They even managed to fit in a few hours at Aachen’s Christmas markets on the return journey.

Everyone had a fantastic time and they particularly enjoyed the Lindt workshop… lecker!
