On Tuesday morning, an exciting debut event took place - Clifton High’s Year 1 and 2 Swimming Showcase. Children enjoyed the opportunity to demonstrate to parents their swimming expertise, developed in lessons over the course of the year.
The event began with Year 1 children participating in a warm up ‘bean’ game, which involved performing a series of water skills in response to commands. The children were the asked to swim multiple widths using their favourite strokes.
Year 2 children then entered the Swimming Pool to show the progression between year groups, swimming lengths in a variety of different strokes. The next section of the event was a ‘jumping spectacle’ with children performing a range of shaped jumps into the water, followed by relay races for both year groups.
A small group of Year 2 swimmers concluded the event with a short synchronised swimming routine to The Greatest Showman soundtrack. The children’s behaviour was exemplary throughout and the standard of swimming and perseverance of all swimmers was superb - well done to Year 1 and 2!
