Year 10 GCSE English Theatre Visit

Year 10 English pupils travelled to Cardiff’s Donald Gordon Theatre on Thursday 29th June to see the critically acclaimed theatrical version of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre as part of their GCSE course. This production in Cardiff follows its successful run at the National Theatre in London, and prior to that at the Bristol Old Vic.

Pupils enjoyed the bold and dramatic production which combined innovative staging, set design, music and physical theatre - especially Pilot the dog and the depiction of the coach journeys!

The production was an innovative re-imagining of the classic novel, allowing audiences, including our GCSE pupils, to consider how older stories can be made accessible for a 21st century audience.

Pupils were complemented on their exemplary behaviour by another audience member who happened to be the Matron of Clifton High over 30 years ago and recognised the rose emblem!
