As part of their Rainforest topic, Year 4 travelled to The Living Rainforest in Berkshire on Monday 22nd May to experience an indoor rainforest environment. The day began with a walk around the three rainforest houses where the children saw monitors, butterflies, tortoises and poison dart frogs, as well as having to dodge around a lizard who had decided the path was the best place for a rest!
The children navigated their way around the thick rainforest plants, learning about how they are used by people who live in the rainforest. After lunch, Year 4 children had the opportunity to take a tour, ‘Edible Rainforest’, where they learnt about how the rainforest environment provides its inhabitants with food. The children demonstrated their knowledge and impressed the tour guide with some excellent questions.
