On a recent cold evening, nine brave Year 8 and 9 German pupils dressed in their summer attire in celebration of Fasching, the German carnival season, attending an evening of quizzes at Badminton School. The dress code read ‘Sommerspas und Onesies’, ‘summer fun and onesies’. Clifton High School pupils formed teams with other students from Badminton School, Clifton College, QEH and Sidcot School, in order to answer questions on a number of topics from German culture, including Fasching, celebrities, music and abbreviations. Jack recalls “I learnt that women cut off men’s ties to celebrate Fasching!” Pupils worked well, cooperating with their teammates. Maelie in Year 9 remembers how she enjoyed “socialising with people from other schools and making new friends”, whilst Maddie in Year 8 said “It was really informative and I got on well with my team - we came second!” Well done to Cordelia, who was awarded first prize for her summer outfit, as well as Jack and Haydn, whose team came joint first.
