Inspired by the ‘Play me I’m yours’ public pianos, pupils in Year 9 have decorated a spare piano from the Music Department to inspire pupils to play at break and lunch time.
The international initiative, ‘Play me I’m yours’, has seen 1900 street pianos installed in 60 cities across the world, inviting the public to engage with, activate and take ownership of their urban environment, and to share their love of music and the visual arts.
Year 9 pupils decided on a Pop Art theme, taking inspiration from both Pop Art artists Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol and musical icons, such as Elvis Presley and David Bowie. The final design was then painted onto the piano which will be tuned over the summer and made available for pupils to play in the Room to Question. The final design is outstanding and highlights the exceptional artistic and creative talents of our pupils – well done to all!
