End-of-year celebrations - 13/07/2012

The Senior School came together at Final Assembly and Prize Giving to commemorate the end of another year at Clifton High. We started by watching children from the Junior School repeat a beautiful ballet performance from the Junior Assembly that morning, which was colourful and vibrant, setting the tone for the rest of our end-of-year celebrations.

In her address to the school, Dr Neill reflected on the key successes of the year for our country - in particular the Jubilee celebrations, the Olympics and the announcement of the tentative observance of the Higgs boson the day before. In turn, the school itself has enjoyed a huge amount of success this year. Dr Neill mentioned the fantastic accomplishment of the school play, They Can't Black-Out The Moon, as well as the mass Zumba event for Comic Relief. So much has been achieved by so many at Clifton High over the last year, in academic study, art, sport, drama, music, food, and the Houses to name but a few areas. Dr Neill commended the pupils for being such superb ambassadors for the school.

Academic prizes were given to those students who have achieved highly in their studies. This was followed by Sports prizes, where awards were given for various achievements, including a great many records broken by Clifton High pupils on Sports Day this year. After this, the results of the House Competition were announced, with Wollaston as the overall House Cup winners!

Finally, we said goodbye to some of the staff who are leaving at the end of this year. The loudest and applause and even standing ovations were given by pupils and staff alike for three especially long-serving members of staff: Dr Nell Dand, Miss Karen Price and Dr Geoff Hallett, who have given a combined service of 80 years to Clifton High School! We wish all those leaving us the very best of luck in their future endeavours.

We wish everyone a very good summer holiday and look forward to seeing you in September.
