foreignfilmFriday goes German

A group of Year 11,12 and 13 German students enjoyed a screening of ‘Die Welle’ in the Rose Theatre complete with pizza and refreshments with Frau Harris, Frau Coles and Madame McKenna for foreignfilmFriday last week.

‘Die Welle’(‘The Wave’) tells the story of a high school teacher's unusual experiment to  demonstrate to his students what life is like under a dictatorship.  His experiment spins horribly out of control when he forms a social unit with a life of its own.

The film is based on a true story, but relocated to Germany. It is a fascinating and thought-provoking drama which raises the question: Could we really be misled and swept along into another National Socialist (Nazi) movement?
